SUMMER CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS

Storytime

Toddler & Older

Storytime at James River Valley Library System is deigned for toddlers, and preschoolers, or any child who still enjoys hearing stories, singing songs, and using their imaginations! Stories, puppets, songs, action rhymes, and child/parent participation are some of the fun activities included during storytime. No registration is needed for individual families. Please, no large groups, as space is limited. Storytime will run for approximately 30 minutes, but may run longer or shorter depending on the activities.

Simple Crafts

Ages: 3-8

 

Join us for an afternoon of fun and simple crafts at the library! All supplies will be provided first come, first served. Please wear something you will not mind getting messy as we use paint and other messy things sometimes. Please no large groups, space and supplies are limited. All children under age 9 will need to be accompanied by an adult while at the library. See monthly event calendar for dates & times. Calendars are also available at any JRVLS circulation desk.

 

Registration is required for this event. Register online at jrvls.org. Registration will open at least one week prior to the event.

Youth Crafts

Ages: 9-13

Join us for an afternoon of fun and crafts at the library! 

 

At each event we will provide a fun craft project for you to do. All supplies will be provided first come, first served. Please no large groups, space and supplies are limited. See monthly event calendar for dates & times. Calendars are also available at any JRVLS circulation desk.

 

Registration is required for this event. Register online at jrvls.org. Registration will open at least one week prior to the event .

Storytime at the National Buffalo Museum

Toddler & Older

Join us at the National Buffalo Museum for Storytime! We will provide a full story time, including a craft or activity. The bookmobile will be parked outside. Children that check out a book will get a free pass to visit the museum!

The Bookmobile will be at the Buffalo Museum for Storytime on the following dates this summer:

Tuesday, June 20

Tuesday, July: 18

Tuesday, August: 15

Family Movie Night

Families

Join us at the Alfred Dickey Library for an evening of family fun at the Movies!

 

The library will show a family friendly movie on the BIG screen at Alfred Dickey Library. Free popcorn will be provided! See the monthly event calendar for dates & times of movie events. Program calendars are also available at any JRVLS circulation desk.

 

Registration is required for this event. Register online at jrvls.org. Registration will open at least one week prior to the event .

Children's/Youth Summer Reading Program

Ages: 3-5, 6-9, & 10-13

 

Registration for the reading programs will begin on June 1, 2023.

 

 To participate in this program, you will keep track of how much time you read and the activities you complete using the provided activity log from the library to earn PRIZES.

 

New activity logs will be available each month June-August.

 

 All activity logs must be completed and turned in by the end of each month to qualify for the grand prize drawing entry for that month.

 

Please see the complete instructions & rules on the activity log when you register.

LEGO Club

Ages: 5+ 

LEGO club will meet at the Stutsman County Library from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm on the second Thursday of each month. At each meeting we will give those who want to be challenged a design to create, and for those who just want to come and build what you want, that’s okay too! Each child will have the opportunity to share with the group what they created. All Legos and supplies will be provided. Please do not bring your own legos. REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED FOR THIS EVENT.  Visit our Events Calendar to find out when the next Lego Club is scheduled. 

Popcorn
Movie After School

Ages: 5+ 

Join us for a movie on the BIG SCREEN at the library! We will show a G or PG rated movie every Friday at 3:30 pm. Free popcorn will be provided first come, first served. Check out our Events Calendar to find out when the next Movie @ The Library is scheduled.

Games @ The Library

Ages: 9+ 

Looking for something fun to do after school? Join us at Alfred Dickey Library every Monday at 3:30 pm for an afternoon of fun and games! There will be board games, free snacks, and much more! There is no need to register for this event. Please call the Children's Department at the library if you would like more information. Check out our Events Calendar to find out when the next Games @ The Library event is scheduled.

After School Activities @ Stutsman County Library

Ages: 9+ 

Come on over to Stutsman County Library each day after school for activities. Free snacks will be provided!
